System link (LAN party) gaming on modern Xboxes
This guide will show you how to setup some fun gaming experiences with your family, friends, and neighbors. We focus on the Xbox One S, because it has a disc drive, quality of life features, extensive game list, and availability. Many of these games may also work on the original Xbox, 360, One S Digital, One X, and Series S/X.
The recommendations are based on setup with 12 players. The modes and maps recommended will also play well if only 10 players show up, but you may have to choose a smaller map for 8 players. This setup more closely mimics Esports than online multiplayer, but also balances the experience for players with different skill levels.
